Where It Began

Every legacy begins with a single moment of curiosity — for Mr. Jameskutty, that moment arrived far from home, and it never let him go.

1981 – 1991

Olten, Switzerland

Mr. Jameskutty spent a decade building a career as a Computer Programmer in Switzerland. It was an unexpected visit to an international furniture exhibition, far outside his own field, that sparked a passion which would eventually redirect the course of his life.

He began to see furniture differently — not as a product defined by where it was sold, but by how it was made. That single realisation became the seed of everything that followed.

The Research Years

Learning a Craft From the Ground Up

He dedicated years to studying Kerala's rubberwood industry — learning from international experts, understanding advanced manufacturing techniques, and exploring how a resource many overlooked could be shaped into something world-class.

Where others saw an ordinary local material, he saw untapped potential. He returned home and invested everything he had into proving it.

26 Years

Gomma Wood Products

The years that followed were marked by experimentation, financial risk, and repeated setbacks. Through sheer perseverance and guidance from international experts, he mastered advanced rubberwood treatment and built one of India's pioneering manufacturing units for finger-jointed and edge-glued solid wood panels, using advanced German technology.

What began as a dream became an internationally respected export business — reaching Europe, the USA, and the Gulf, recognised for uncompromising quality and sustainable practice.

A defining milestone — Gomma Wood Products was entrusted with supplying premium rubberwood flooring for the Queen's Palace of Bhutan, a reflection of the trust placed in the company's craftsmanship.
A Setback

The Factory Closes, the Dream Doesn't

Changing government policy, diminishing availability of quality wood, and mounting labour challenges eventually made it impossible to keep the factory running. After 26 successful years, Gomma Wood Products closed its doors.

But the purpose that built it — bringing genuinely premium furniture to people without compromise — remained very much alive.

Today

Stanwood

Mr. Jameskutty remained committed to one purpose: making genuinely premium furniture accessible to the people of Kottayam, without asking them to travel to bigger cities or compromise on quality. That purpose gave birth to Stanwood.

Stanwood is the culmination of four decades of learning, international exposure, manufacturing excellence, and an unshakable belief that customers deserve furniture built with honesty, craftsmanship, and lasting value.

"True visionaries are not remembered for the businesses they built. They are remembered for the legacy they leave behind."

Beyond Wood

For Mr. Jameskutty, furniture has never been merely about wood, design, or business — it is about believing in the potential of Kerala's resources when few others did, and rising after every setback.

It is about continuing to serve people with the same passion that started decades ago, in a furniture hall in Switzerland.
